Ayana T. Hardaway Ph.D

Research Partner

Dr. Ayana T. Hardaway is a higher education scholar-practitioner and an independent critical qualitative researcher. Dr. Hardaway’s research agenda explores Black girls and women in P-20 educational contexts, college student development and success, and critical qualitative methods. Her dissertation study, “I’m Not Your Mammy: Unearthing the Racially Gendered Experiences of Undergraduate Black Women Resident Assistants at Predominantly White Institutions.” was awarded the Dr. Rita Wolotkiewicz Phi Delta Kappa Award in 2019 by Temple University’s College of Education for professional achievement and for advancing scholarship on equity issues in education. She is also an Asa G. Hilliard III and Barbara A. Sizemore Research Fellow. Dr. Hardaway’s most recent publications have been highlighted in the Journal of Postsecondary Student Success, Urban Education Policy Annuals, and Investing in the Education Success of Black Women and Girls.
